Returns & Refund House Rules

These are the House Rules for Returns & Refunds.  When and how you can return items bought on ShopZaka, which aligned with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa 🇿🇦.
Please read through to know your rights 🔍 and how to handle returns right.

Heads-up: Some products on ShopZaka are handcrafted by real creators and youth who are starting their business. We don’t compromise on quality, but each product is unique — so be kind when requesting returns. 

Who can return & what qualifies?

You can only return items purchased on ShopZaka 🛒
Each seller sets their own return policy.  Read the ZakaBoss’ shop policy before you make a purchase.

Returns must be:

  • Unused
  • In original condition
  • In original packaging
  • shop policy allows returns

Some items can’t be returned, like:

  • Perishables (Food & Treats)
  • Custom/personalised goods 
  • Intimate or hygiene-sensitive items 

Return Guidelines

Before you hit “return”, make sure:

  • The item is eligible as per the seller’s policy
  • You’re within the return timeframe 
  • You’ve kept the item unused + all original tags & packaging
  • You’ve got everything the item came with (accessories, docs, tags etc.)

Timeframe: Most sellers allow returns within 7 business days, but this varies. Always double-check the seller’s policy.

Return Process 

Contact the seller via their Shop and provide the following information. 

  • Your order number
  • The reason for return
  • What you’d like: refund, repair or replacement
  • Photos or proof if needed 
  • The seller will chat with you directly to sort it out 
  • Not following this process = delays or declined returns  

Return Shipping 

You’re responsible for:

  • Packaging the item securely 
  • Marking your return reference number clearly on the parcel
  • Including all original parts & accessories
  • Sticking to the seller’s return guidelines

You cover the shipping fees for returns

ShopZaka can’t be held liable for lost or damaged return shipments.  We are the platform facilitating the process.  The ZakaBoss 

Refunds

Refunds (if allowed) are handled via the seller’s ShopZaka payment dashboard for up to 7 days after the purchase.

If a refund’s approved:

  • You’ll be refunded to the original payment method less  5% payment processing fee 
  • If that’s unavailable, you may get a ShopZaka credit instead

If you used a ShopZaka gift card:

  • Full refunds = seller refunds you their portion, ShopZaka refunds its own less 5% processing fee and delivery fee
  • Partial refunds = split based on what each party paid

ShopZaka may issue refunds and recover costs from sellers if:

  • A seller’s account is suspended or restricted 
  • The order is overdue or unfulfilled

 We may step in to process refunds, but legal responsibility remains with the seller.

Refund Timing 

After the returned item is received and checked, the seller will:

  • Start the refund process 
  • Deduct any return fees (if mentioned in their policy)
  • Process the refund within 7 business days

Exchanges 

 Exchanges depend on the seller’s policy — ShopZaka doesn’t manage these directly. Please refer to their T&Cs before ordering.

Damaged or Defective Items

  • Contact the seller ASAP if your item arrives damaged or faulty
  • Take clear photos/videos of the packaging before opening
  • After opening, inspect and snap close-ups of the issue
  • The seller will guide you through what’s next 🔧

Warranty Claims 

Warranties = seller-specific. Please refer to each seller’s warranty info. 

ShopZaka isn’t responsible for warranty-related matters.  Legal responsibility remains with the ZakaBoss. 

Return or Refund Cost

There are costs associated with returns and refunds.  This depends on shop policy.

  • Payment processing fee of 5%
  • Delivery fees may require refunding, depending on the reason for refunding and returns 

ShopZaka isn’t responsible for refunds and returns.  Legal responsibility remains with the ZakaBoss. 

Policy Changes

  • ShopZaka is a marketplace, not the seller.  We are here to support, but final responsibility rests with the individual seller
  • These HouseRules may change 🔁 — check back anytime for updates
